Zhuyin or Bopomofo is a system of phonetic notation for the transcription of spoken Chinese, particularly the Mandarin dialect. Consisting of 37 characters and four tone marks, it transcribes all possible sounds in Mandarin.

Bopomofo widely used as an educational tool and electronic input method in Taiwan. When I forget how to write a single word, I would use Bopomofo to spell it out. However, Bopomofo is not often seen in the general advertising, so it is not often used to design a typeface. This project explores the typeface of “Bopomofo “ with movements and tunes of Chinese Calligraphic.
